Scutellaria Baicalensis Georgi(Radix Scutellariae) Rapid Identification
The roots are conical, not straight and twisted, 6-25cm long, 1-3cm in diameter. The surface is yellowish brown or dark yellow, rough, with contorted longitudinal or irregular net lines and sparse verrucous root marks. Hard and brittle, easy to break, section yellow. It's mild and bitter. Old root wood part decrepitude: brown black or hollow person call "old qin", root stick solid person name "zi (purple) qin". The quality of "zi (purple) qin" is better.
